Best Places to Sled in New England this Winter

Plenty of time remains for riders across the country to hit the trails and enjoy your sled before this season ends. Here are a few of BITEHARDERS’s favorite, must-visit locations in the New England states:

Connecticut – Connecticut offers impressive trails in a handful of state forests. The 10.6-mile Housatonic trail near Sharon provides a challenge for both beginners and experts alike. Some of the best views along the way can be found at Clay Beds Road, the site of a historic mining operation.

Maine – If you decide to spend a few days traversing Maine’s Interconnected Trails System (ITS), you have made a great decision. But if you’re looking for one trail in particular, we recommend the scenic Jackman Maine. These well-maintained trails offer numerous lodging and restaurants options, making them perfect for family adventures.

Massachusetts – When snow hits, serious riders should head west to Pittsfield State Park to tackle the Taconic Mountain Range that separates Massachusetts from New York. Cruise over to Balance Rock State Park and gaze upon the wonder of a 165-ton limestone boulder balanced upon the bedrock. The trail is a bit challenging, but it’s a must-see.

New Hampshire – If your end game is endless landscapes with incredible riverside views, beautiful waterfalls, and demanding hills, the Bear Notch Trail Systems in the White Mountains is for you. Take the 50-mile closed loop trail system to get awesome looks at Mt. Washington and Mt. Chocorua and check out the wildlife near the Swift River.

New York – The Adirondacks offer some of the Northeast’s premiere sledding destinations. One of the best locations within the Adirondacks is Lake George. Here you can wind up and down the Mt. Prospect trails and relax over some of the breathtaking views.

Vermont – In a state that maintains over 5,000 miles of trails, it’s hard to choose just one. We recommend you head to the Northeast Kingdom Vermont’s most pristine backcountry and check out Island Pond. This sledder’s paradise offers countless excursions and outstanding amenities.

Before you embark on any snowmobile adventure, make sure you’re snowmobiles traction products are in top shape using BITEHARDER’s full line of sharpening tools. As your carbide runners and studs wear down, a trip on the trails becomes more dangerous and less enjoyable. Increase the effectiveness and performance of your sled over the life of your traction tools with BITEHARDER.
